At the beginning of the novel Rachel says that she wants, “To marry and find my place in the world.” At the end of the novel, she says, “I had found my proper place. I was sure of it.” What did she mean by this comment?

After Matthew first kissed Rachel, “Without so much as a by-your-leave,” she met Chris Snider. What difference did she notice immediately between Chris and Matthew? (p.133)
